When We Use X-Rays — and When We Don’t
We follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation safety protocols. X-rays are taken only when clinically indicated — typically:

- Every 6–12 months for higher-risk children (history of cavities, deep grooves, orthodontic concerns)
- When needed for specific diagnosis — pain, trauma, suspected cavity, developmental concerns
DIAGNOdent Cavity Detection
DIAGNOdent is a laser-based cavity detection device that finds decay earlier than visual or X-ray examination alone.
A tiny laser scans the chewing surface of a tooth and reads back a score indicating how much early decay is present — often catching cavities when they’re still small enough to remineralize with fluoride or treat with a tiny filling.
