First aid while you call us

Three of the most common emergencies, and exactly what to do.

    Knocked-out permanent tooth

    Handle by the crown. Rinse gently with milk. Try to place it back in the socket, or store in milk. Call us within 30 minutes.

    Broken or fractured tooth

    Rinse with warm water. Save any pieces in milk. Cold compress on the cheek. Call us.

  3. 3

    Severe tooth pain

    Rinse with warm salt water. Age-appropriate pain reliever. Cold compress. Call us.

Head or neck injury, uncontrolled bleeding, or trouble breathing or swallowing? Go to the emergency room first, then call us.

How fast can you see my child?
For true emergencies during office hours, usually within 30–60 minutes. Call us and describe what’s happening — we triage urgent cases to the front of the schedule.
Are you open weekends?
Yes — Saturday 8 am to 3 pm. Closed Sundays.
What if my child needs treatment but is too anxious?
We offer the full range of sedation options for emergency visits — from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through IV sedation and general anesthesia for extensive cases.
Do you see non-patient families for emergencies?
Yes, we absolutely do. You don’t have to be an established patient. We’d love to meet your family and become your dental home — but first, let’s get the emergency handled.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
Cost varies by what’s needed. We provide clear estimates before treatment, and most plans cover emergency visits similarly to regular care. Learn about insurance and financing.
My child’s tooth isn’t painful but looks chipped — do I still need to come in?
Yes — come in. Even small chips can expose inner tooth layers and lead to infection, sensitivity, or larger fractures. We’d rather see it early.
Is baby tooth trauma serious?
It can be. Even if the baby tooth heals, the developing permanent tooth underneath may be affected. We’ll evaluate with X-rays and monitor at follow-up visits.
